From the depths of despair, O lord, I call for your help.
Hear my cry Lord, pay attention to my prayer.
Lord, if you kept record of our sins, who O lord, could ever survive?
But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.
I am counting on the Lord, yes I am counting on Him.
I have put my hope in His word.
I long for the lord, more than sentries long for the dawn.
O Irael, hope in the Lord;
for with the lord there is unfailing love..
His redemption overflows.
He himself will redeem Israel from every kind of sin.
I am currently going through a She Reads Truth bible study plan, and today am joining the community there to reflect and write about Psalm 130. If you want to read more devotionals about this verse, I encourage you to check the website out today. I love digging deeper into the word and hearing others thoughts and how God spoke to each one of us individually.
There is one truth that had I grasped earlier in my life, I could've saved myself a lot of heartache and pain. And I've shared it here but I want to say it again. If the only thing you read here today read this: God isn't mad at you.
Psalm 130 says it best: "With the lord there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows."
Friends, let that truth sink deep into your heart this morning. Reread it again until you believe it. I've felt the weight of shame, I've felt too broken, too messed up, too lost to ever be one of God's children. I want you to know that wherever you are at in your walk with the Lord, whatever your past looks like, you are deeply and passionately loved by God. If you are a believer of Christ, you have already been forgiven for your sins when he died for us on the cross. He poured his love out over us, and we can live in the freedom of that. In Christ, there is true redemption and restoration. His love is unfailing, and is not conditional based on how good you are, how often you read the bible, or how much you do or do not swear.
There is nothing you can do to make God love you any less, or any more. Do not let your past hinder you from living the life of freedom He has called you too. If you have five minutes, listen to this song. It is a beautiful picture of the free gift of grace God gave to us.
"Now my debt is paid, it is paid in full
By the precious blood that my Jesus spilled
Now the curse of sin has no hold on me
who the son sets free is free indeed."
