How Can I Love On YOU?

Today I am taking a break from my typical Thursday post of wedding pictures to just share with you what God's been doing in my life lately, and to ask you to share with me as well. I've been trying to be more intentional about spending more time in God's word, and part of that is thanks to my friend Ashten who approached me about possibly doing a bible study. We have been going through an old She Reads Truth study and emailing back and forth our thoughts and answers to the prompts. Its been really encouraging for me for many different reasons. For one, it keeps me accountable to reading the bible daily. Now, let me just tell you we are human, and I've missed a day here because I simply forgot. I am not proud of that, but I just started back the next day.

Sometimes, its easy to beat ourself up for something like this, and think since we've missed a day, we might as well just stop the reading plan all together. But let me tell you girls something : Jesus isn't some legalistic rule book holder who wants to scold us when we forget to read the Bible one night. Really, he wants us to read the Bible because he wants to spend TIME with us. He wants to speak to us, and His word is one way he does that. He wants us to learn from Him and learn about Him so we can truly know the God who loves us so much He sent his son to die for us.

Another reason going through the study with Ashten has been so great for me is just the unique way we are getting to know each other through this. It is really great to know that the same things I struggle with, like the fear of not being good enough, someone else has been there or may even working through the same thing right then. The community that is built around people who desire to know God more is just SO COOL.

If anyone is interested in doing some time of online bible study/community group in the New Year, please let me know in the comments or shoot me an email. I am still thinking through what this might look like, but I have some really cool ideas running through my head.

Finally, I want to know how I can be praying for you my friends. If you're new here, leave me a comment and say hello, and be sure to leave me a link so I can go check out your blog as well. If you're comfortable, share what is on your heart or how I can pray for you because I am committing to setting aside time this weekend to pray specifically for each and every one of you who is willing to share with me. This blogging community has become so precious to me. It has grown into something I never could've imagined when I started blogging a little over six months ago. If you will, tell me how I can love on you whether its prayer, a listening ear, or just knowing you have a friend who cares deeply for you!

  7. I just discovered your blog and I am already falling in love with it! I would certainly be interested in joining an online bible study group!! Please be in prayer that as we enter into Christmas week my mind would be so fully focused on Christ and celebrating Him that I would not be overly distracted by all the secondary things like delicous food and gifts that can easily distract from the true meaning of Christmas.

  8. Hey Brittany! It's so great that you just posted this. I have a meeting next week at our local Catholic church to talk about converting (my entire family is Catholic and so is my husband). I've never really felt a "calling" to the church until recently and I am looking for ways to explore that. I'd love to opportunity to join in a bible study! I'd love it even more if there was an option to join via skype - I am very easily distracted and I think an online study group could be a lot of fun!

  11. This is similar to a lot of things I've been thinking about lately. Being intentional in the new year about bible study and prayer. I appreciate you asking if there's anything you can pray for us about. I've been feeling lately like God is calling me to find so where to serve. I don't know what that will look like or where it will be, but you can be praying that I will be able to respond to his leading.
